#18 - ART GALLERIES AROUND TORONTO

There are so many art galleries and exhibitions to see around town. Here are four places you can visit:

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) offers tremendous variety in a newly renovated building. If you check out "The Thompson Collection" you will see a number of different phases in the history of Canadian art. Visit: http://www.ago.net/ to learn more about the AGO. Admission is free on Wednesdays from 6pm to 8pm.

The Gardiner Museum presently hosts an exhibition called "Clay Canvases: The Fine Art of Painted Ceramics." The Gardiner Museum is directly across the street from the Royal Ontario Museum (111 Queen's Park). Visit: http://www.gardinermuseum.on.ca/ for more details. Admission is half price on Fridays between 4pm and 9pm ($6).

Until August 27, The Japan Foundation is hosting a beautiful exhibition called "four seasons of gardens in Kyoto." The Japan Foundation is at 131 Bloor Street West (across the street from the Royal Ontario Museum). Visit: http://www.jftor.org/ for more information. This art exhibition is free!

Until August 30, The Italian Cultural Institute in Toronto is presenting an interesting exhibition of sculptures called "The Third Way." You can find the Institute at 496 Huron Street (which is about a five minute walk from Bloor and Spadina). This art exhibition is free!

I highly recommend that you take a guided tour of the place(s) you visit. They are wonderfully informative!
