#19 - STUDENT WORK - FOUR SEASONS OF GARDENS IN KYOTO

Alice has written a vivid description of the "four seasons of gardens in Kyoto" exhibition at the Japan Foundation. Here it is:

While in Toronto I've had the opportunity to visit a good number of museums and art galleries, and I've found all of them really interesting.

Among the galleries, I particularly appreciated the Japan Foundation of Toronto and its exhibition of photographs by Mizuno Katsuhiko. I really enjoyed these masterpieces called "four seasons of gardens in Kyoto." The subjects (as the title suggests) are different types of Japanese gardens captured by the artist's camera in every part of the year.

What I liked most about these pieces of art was the vibrancy of the colours: bright red for a lovely bridge over a pond; orange and yellow autumn leaves; violet and pink flowers; smooth and grey stones of a river bank; and of course, every shade of greens in trees and bushes.

Looking at these fantastic landscapes I could't help wishing to close my eyes and magically travel there.

In fact, all these places seemed so quiet and peaceful, and full of memories of past ages. I really wish I could go to one of those gardens someday, and I'm glad I could admire this wonderful collection.
