#5 - STUDENT WORK - CANADA DAY AT NIAGARA FALLS
Here are some amazing student reflections:
MAID OF THE MIST (by Debora)
Yesterday, during our visit to Niagara Falls, we went aboard the Maid of the Mist. I think it’s a great way to experience the falls, plus you get to have some fun while going into the mist. Being inside the Mist’s range feels kind of like it’s raining but it’s way cooler. Obviously, you get wet, despite of wearing the raincoat that’s given to you before going on the boat. We went on the second floor and we got to enjoy a great view of the falls. For me, it was a great trip and I would really recommend it to everyone.
CANADA DAY AT NIAGARA FALLS (by Jimena)
When going to the Niagara Falls I found it very interesting going up Clifton Hill, as it was completely different than Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is a very traditional town. I also thought that Niagara Falls would be quite the same. When we arrived there I found it was almost like a big city. There were actually large buildings, casinos, stores, attractions, and many lights. It was like being at a fair! It was really crowded too. There were many attractions, my friends and I wanted to try, and so we decided to buy a package, which included three places. We took the three tours, which included “Believe It or Not”, “The Museum of Wax” and “The Moving Theatre”. “Believe It or Not” was great. It had information about the weirdest moments of recorded history. What impressed me the most were the stories of daredevils. It is crazy what people will do to become famous and get attention. I had seen wax museums in other places so those didn’t impress me that much, but they were still fun. The moving theatre was for kids.
NIAGARA FALLS (by Melissa)
Yesterday, the 1st of July, we all went to Niagara Falls to celebrate Canada Day together and watch the fireworks. We took a bus to Niagara. On the way we stopped at a winery, where they let us try some ice wine and we had the opportunity to buy some for our parents. In Niagara-on-the-Lake we had a chance to walk around, watch a little parade and see how the people of the town live. When we got to Niagara Falls, we took the Maid of the Mist and got all wet. I had a lot of fun watching the Falls up close. I enjoyed a lot and felt really happy about having this experience and sharing it with others. After the Maid of the Mist, the teachers let us wander for a couple of hours, so we could get to know more about the city. We bought some tickets for different shows. First, we went to "Believe It or Not" and the thing that I liked the most was the "Daredevils of History" exhibit. I would never be able to do those things! I found them very brave for risking their lives. The second one we visited was the "Moving Theatre" and I found it very interesting because it was my first time in one. Finally, we went to the "Wax Museum" were we took a lot of pictures with famous people and laughed a lot. At 10pm, we went back to the Falls to see the fireworks, which were very pretty. It was exciting to be there on such an important day!
MAID OF THE MIST (by Elena)
We visited the Maid of the Mist during the afternoon and it was a wonderful experience. I’d never seen anything like that before in my life. We got really close to the falls and got a really good angle to take photographs. We learned about the history of the falls. We heard stories of daredevils, and I found that very interesting. It’s something I highly recommend because it’s something you don’t get to experience very often. It was a wonderful feeling.
NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE (by Estefania)
The most interesting place we visited yesterday was Niagara-on-the-Lake. I especially loved how it has preserved its heritage through the ages. The prettiest town in Canada, a nickname this town has won, is a really lovely village with just over 13 000 people. There are many beautiful small stores with a variety of souvenirs and local merchandise. It is a great place to spend the afternoon walking or having a coffee, watching the families walk by. I would recommend this town for all of its natural and historic beauty.
NAIGARA FALLS AND THE MAID OF THE MIST (by Susy)
Yesterday we spent Canada Day at Niagara Falls and it was a great experience. One of the best parts was going on the Maid of the Mist, a boat that takes you near the falls. We got really wet. Actually, when we were close, we couldn’t see very well. The boat was moving a lot with the water pressure and the rushing water felt like it was raining. It was beautiful though. I also learned about some of the history of this natural beauty. I enjoyed the experience. It was my first time to visit the falls. I got to share this experience with my friends and boyfriend and we were amazed about the amount of people that were there.
